As you know I am a passionate advocate for stepping away from biz-as-usual, and the ski slopes are my winter go-to!!
The other day, I was super excited to see a colleague post on LinkedIn that she also does some of her best creative thinking when she steps away from the office and takes a few runs on the ski slopes of Idaho!
She writes, “I am a better business-minded person with an activity like skiing in my day to day than if I was consistently home, staring at a screen”
Okay, so maybe I got a little envious that her slopes are better than mine , but still, her message made me shout “hell, yeah, sista’!”
Your business day does not have to be so structured that you don’t allow for spontaneity. Give yourself permission to design your days in a way that embraces freedom & flexibility!
Go for that hike at 11:30 am on a Tuesday if that’s what you want to do
Take an afternoon road trip to a local spot you’ve wanted to check out
Catch a quick mountain bike ride in the morning & start work a little later
Go hang out by the water, and bring your fishing pole if that’s your jam.
And if you have a team, as Annalisa shares in her post, give them permission to find and act on what fuels them as well. It will benefit your company in the long run.
Just try us on this!
Let go of any worry or fear that something will fall apart, and trust that when you allow for this kind of flexibility, the business will thrive and so will you!
